LESIA's objectives
- To represent LESIA members' interests in various state and municipal government institutions.
- To protect the rights of the people with epilepsy.
- To coordinate the activities of the members while tackling the problems of the integration of the people with epilepsy.
- To provide LESIA's members with methodological assistance and consultations in the process of integration into society.
- To create a model for integration of the people with epilepsy into society.
LESIA's goals
- To develop the model for health and rehabilitation services network (created by the EPI Association) in the regions, so that the people with epilepsy have better access to the services;
- To create model of spealized social rehabilitation in society at non-goverment organizations.
- To create the education system for the people with epilepsy and their families, to develop this system seeking to provide information about the disease to the people who have it and their families, as well as with information about treatment possibilities, to teach the people to live with the disease, to help them to integrate into society, to improve the quality of their life;
- To inform the society about epilepsy, the peculiarities of the disease, how to provide first aid; to create positive attitude of the society and employees toward the people with epilepsy;
- To establish self-help groups of the people with epilepsy, to provide them with methodological assistance and to coordinate their activities;
- To cooperate with the municipal government institutions, jobcentres; to help the people with epilepsy to solve employment problems, to create social companies, to develop small businesses;
- To cooperate with the international and foreign organizations that carry out similar activities.
LESIA actievities get funding from state bundget throgh Social Integration of Disabled programm through calls for tenders.
LESIA AND LESIA's MEMBERS ACTIVITIES
The main activities are the giving of social rehabilitation for people with epilepsy in residential places.
The specialised servicies of social rehabilitation is dedicated for people with epilepsy, which have obvions psichological problems and biopsichosocial funnction disorders. The purporse of social rehabilitation is to restore biopsyhosocial funnction and integration to society.
The rehabilitation model is convenient needs less means because:
- Gets rehabilitation service closer to residential places.
- Service is given in non-stationary conditions.
- More people get rehabilitation servise than it would be in stationary conditions.
- Lerning how to live for people with epilepsy and their relatives under MOSES program. MOSES is proceeded since 2006 in collaboration with Bethel epilepsy centre and with sincere help and support of the specialist of this Centre - Ms. Margaret Pfafflin and Mr. Ruprecht Thorbecke.
- Psichologikal help for people with epilepsy and their relatives.
- Occupational therapy.
- Art therapy.
- Memory and attention concentration improvement therapy.
- Learning and work motivation recover therapy.
Here is how many people got rehabilitation service:
- In year 2006 - 110 people with epilepsy;
- In year 2007 - 144 peaple with epilepsy, including 17 children;
- In year 2008 - 392 people with epilepsy, including 31 child.

- Internacional co-operation.
- Organizacion of public campain "Me the Same as You" in 2008:
- it was carried out through radio, TV reportages, articles in magazines, postcards, brochures about epilepsy and help giving during epilepsy attack.
- population cross - examination (2000 respondets, age 18 - 72) has been conducted in order to explore general knowledge about epilepsy. This examination has shown, that population knowledge is low.

children cross - examination has been made in 2009 during campaing (1000 children, age 6-18), which has shown that children have little knowledge about epilepsy.
